Christian faith is a destiny to spread the warmth of the love we experienced from the Lord, by ourselves being converted to a particle of the same character as Christ the Head.
Here we can consider our status in this aspect, by a metaphorical comparison with the sun and the moon.
The sun is a self sustaining source of energy. It has the same character as the other stars. It, by continuous fusion reaction acts as a source of light and energy which is the basis ofsurvival and sustenance of most (if not all) of the life forms of this solar system. Likewiseis our role in this world… Christ expects us to burn with vigor, and provide the source of spiritual sustenance for others so that the same spiritual brilliance and blaze as seen in Christ
may be seen in us, and thus the path of Salvation may be demonstrated and open to the world.
Unlike this, the moon is a mere reflector of a part of the sun’s light. It is a source of pale light and is always a fuel for poetic and cosmetic inspiration. But it lacks the power to impart energy and warmth to those in need…. It also only sheds light so long as it is in the light of sun, being eclipsed whenever the shadow of earth intervenes.. Hence is also our spirituality many a times… we merely take pride and express prestige of the spiritual valor of our forefathers like St. Paul, St. Thomas, H.G Abraham Marthoma, H.G Yuhanon Marthoma etc….
we are dazed by their brilliance yet the strands of complacency has so paralyzed us that we don’t ourselves radiate with brilliance. And also our pride as Christian lasts only when in luxury, just to be eclipsed when the shadow of worldly trouble emerges.
But the more grave and dismal situation is the fact that, the clergy or the “PUROHITA”, which literally means the Seekers of GOD’S WILL have become “AHAM HITA” or SEEKERS OF ONE’S OWN WILL. Some among the clergy fears a true kindling of the spiritual fire of the laymen, for it will disperse their mask of authority which is a mere shadow.
So rise up and decide...are we mere reflectors of the past glory and theology… or are we Sources of a new energy and stronger theology….
Decide before the hammer of fate strikes!!!!!
