KUDUMBHA SANGAMAM - 2012

The Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish very much enthusiastically and successfully completed their 10th Parish Festival at the Indian Central School, Abbassiya. The climate was not favorable, but the participation of the members as well as the well wishers of Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish, were very high. Literally none of the participants left the Indian central School premises from the inauguration ceremony till the last item that was the prayer and benediction.

The highlight of the inaugural ceremony was a beautiful and energetic presentation performed by Kuwait Mar Thoma Sunday School Students. The inaugural function was presiding by the Vice President of the Parish, Adv. John Thomas. Senior member of the Parish, Mr. Thomas Mathew was leading the opening prayer and the opening song by Parish Choir.  General Convener, Mr. Shibu Thomas Pullampallil welcomed the gathering. Indian Central School Principal Mrs. Santha Mariyam James addressed the audience by underlining the importance of family union.

The Chaplain of Vellore Christian College, Dr. Sunny Philip inaugurated the function, as well as the chief guests in the Dias had lighted the traditional lamp. Mrs. Darly Varghese, the Joint Convener made the Vote of thanks for the inaugural function. Inaugural function concluded with an inspiring song by senior and junior choir.

Main highlight of this year's Parish Festival was the ganamela by the famous playback singer Mr. K G Markose. Parish members enjoyed variety entertainment programs such as Katha Prasangam, Instrumental Music Fusion, Munshi, Flash mob, etc. while kids were delighted with face painting and games. Several food counters were arranged including Tattu Kada. 

The following prayer groups had arranged the stalls to support these historical events to a grant success. The Ebenezer prayer group with their specially homemade Corn cups and St. Peter’s prayer group with their special  Idiayappam and Egg. Coffee and tea was prepared by the St. John’s prayer group and Horeb prayer group presented their special burger King and coke. The Bethany Prayer group was responsible for the arrangements of the stalls like the bedsheets, covers. The Nadan Thattu Kada that offered Kumbalappam, Ilayappam, Kozhakkatta & Kapplandi was prepared by the Sehion Prayer group.  For plant lovers a separate counter was arranged by Bethlehem Prayer group with variety of plants and flowers.  Peniel prayer group and Logos Prayer group had also put up a splendid thattukada. Along with the various prayer groups the Yuvajana Sakhyam and the Sevika Sanghom presented their nadan vibhvangal. The sale for Maramon CDs were done by the  yuvajan sakhyam.

The organizers had made timely decision to change the venue of the cultural programs from the outdoor to indoor to enjoy the parishioners in the midst of the unexpected rain throughout the day.   

The bad weather did not drive away the people from the grounds. There was a good crowd till the programs ended. Once again this also proves the unity and strength of Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish.

The closing prayer and the benediction were performed by one of the senior most members of Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish, Mr. P. M. Cherian. Mr. Philip Varghese and Ms. Ancy Acham were the presenters for the event.
