I'm an ordinary member of the Kuwait Marthoma Parish who grew up in Kuwait, actively attending the Kuwait Mar Thoma Sunday School and participating in all the Church Activities..I'm a staunch Marthomite and I believe my church should grow. But not by the 'DIVIDE and RULE' policy.History has taught us the end results whenever and where ever such a policy was applied.
47 yrs my Church stood strong in this oil rich country. No church Hierarchy has the right to destroy a legacy that stood strong in the midst of tempests like the Gulf war. A church that stopped to exist during the war revived with full vigor and life and has this come far.
We, the parish members have our own church politics and egos. But NO ONE can use that against us in wiping out a 47 year old legacy. When it comes to the bottom, its OUR CHURCH, OUR LEGACY.
And we will fight till we get an answer as to why the Church Leaders decided to wipe out its name without consulting our office bearers and our church committee. Why did they not consult us to know what we want.
Kuwait has been kind enough to give us enough freedom to worship. We have misused the freedom thanks to the tolerant expatriate neighbor community we stay with.
We request our Church Leaders, please , understand us.
None of us are against the growth of the Marthoma Church. We are not against new parishes coming up in Kuwait.
But it should not be so by destroying a Church that stood here for 47 yrs. The Parish is an important part of the Marthoma Church history in Kuwait.
One of our Church Sunday School students is a dedicated Priest of the Marthoma Church today. Students like Akhil Thomas Jacob has pledged his life with service to God through the Church Ministry.
It shows what strong church values are developed in our Church and Sunday School even when our children are growing up in a different culture.
We request the Church Leaders to lend us your ear. Give us a chance to say our Thoughts. Please, give us back our Parish.
Please do not force us to destroy our faith in our Church.
On behalf of Like Minded Youth who grew up in Kuwait believing Kuwait Marthoma Parish is their mother Parish.
