Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish is organizing a brief Pre-school motivation programme (Ezhuthiniruthu Sisrusha) for the children who are going to school or nursery for the first time. All parents in the above category with their children are welcome to participate in the programme.

Condolence

Mr. John K John (60 ) Valiyakuttikattil house, Kadapra , Niranam, Father in law of our Yuvajana Sakhyam Jt. Secretary Mr. Sibi John Jacob has been called by the Heavenly Father on Wednesday night. We the members of the Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish share our grief with family members on the sad demise of Mr. John K John. We continue to pray that the Almighty Lord comfort and console the bereaved family in the days ahead.

PG Officials meeting

A meeting of Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish organisation office bearers and prayer group officials will be held on Wednesday, 28th September 2011 at United Indian School Auditorium from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. All prayer group officials and organisation office bearers are requested to attend the meeting.

Sin of Commission and Sin of Omission

Those who have an accounting background must have learnt that the errors in accounting are classified broadly as errors of commission and errors of omission. Similarly, sins could also be categorized as sins of Commission which is doing something wrong and sins of Omission which is not doing something ought to have been done.

Now let us see how Bible perceives the sins of Omission. Luke 16;19 to 31 Jesus gives the story of a rich man and Lazarus. I see in this rich man many good qualities. He allowed a poor man with sores to remain at his gate and allowed him to eat the scraps fallen from his table, and even when he knows there is no escape from his terrible sufferings in the hell, he is very keen to save his brothers and to send them to heaven. Incredibly noble qualities hardly seen in even faithful people these days! And he did no harm to the poor man.

Choir Dedication Day –September 23rd Friday

Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish Choir will celebrate Choir Dedication Day on SEPT- 23 Friday 2011. During the Service Choir Members will lead most of the lay leadership roles of the worship service. Please come & join altogether with choir prayerfully & get blessed. Rev. T Velvet John shall lead the service and share word of the God.

Waiting for What Next

Very few have the taste of the shadowy things that is happening in the corridors of church power center but we ordinary marthomites like me and may be 99% of marthomites had no clue , at least on its gravity and depth, till the end of 2010. But now we are befuddled at discovering our achens, bishops and marthoma church more and more every day.

Our Parish member Mr. Thomas Varkey (56) Tabore PG, brother in law of Mathew K Chacko (James), has been promoted to glory today morning. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Ponnamma Thomas and their children Mr. Tinu Thomas and Ms.Tincy Thomas. Mrs. Mariamma Babu (Koinoniya PG) is sister in law of the deceased.

The Final Homage & Prayers shall be possible at the vicinity of Al Sabah hospital, Mortuary premises., Tomorrow, 19th Sept 2011 @ 09.00 AM. Body will be laid to rest at Thalavady Padinjarekara Mar Thoma Church on tuesday at 2pm

Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish offer our heart-felt condolence on his sad demise and pray to the Almighty that the bereaved family find the solace in God.

Update: The Final Homage & Prayer were held at Al Sabah hospital, Mortuary premises., on 19th Sept 2011 @ 09.00 AM. Besides people from various corners, Malankara Orthodox church Cor-Episcopa,, 6 Priests from Orthodox, Catholic, CSI, Evagelical churches, several association members and 2 Pastors attented the service.

His Body laid to rest at Thalavady Padinjarekara Mar Thoma Church on tuesday Sept 20th at 2pm in the presence of serveral Mar Thoma Church priests.

Please pray for Baiju Markose achen,as he is going through a major surgery, at Kottayam Medical College Hospital, after a bike accident near Kottayam. Please remember in prayers.

Update:

Rev. Baiju Markose who is an M. Th student at Kottayam Seminary met with an accident this afternoon and sustained injuries on the Spleen. He had to undergo an emergency operation and is now recovering in the post -operative ICU at Medical College Kottayam. As per the latest information the next 48 hours is critical and his body needs to get stabilized.

Elymas, the Pervert of truth

In Acts Chap 13, we see that Sergius Paulo’s, the governor of an island, was keen to hear the word of God from Saul and Bernabas. But there was a false prophet, named, Bas Jesus with an alias name, Elymas, who worked for the governor and was trying to pervert the truth and prevent the governor from having faith in God.

In Acts Chap 16 we see a similar situation. There we see the owners of a slave girl turns against Apostle Paul and Silas when they realized that they had lost all chances of making money by using the evil spirited slave girl coz St. Paul ordered the evil spirit to get out of the girl. Angered at this, they instigated the crowd to attack Paul and Silas by falsifying the truth coz truth always stand in way of those who practice evils to achieve personal ambitions.

Sevika Sangha Dinam (09th Sept) : Photos

Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish observed September 9th as Sevika Sangha Dinam. Special arrangements were made for the Worship service on Friday at Marina Hall, Kuwait. Rev. T Velvet John, Pgm administrator for PG Studies in Association of Theoglical education, was the chief guest during the service which was lead by Kuwait Mar Thoma Sevika Sangham members.

The seductive power of Money

Seeing the attitude of rich a man, Jesus said it is terribly hard, harder than a camel to go thru the eye of a needle, for rich people to get into kingdom of heaven. At the same time, some of the greatest men in the Bible were rich. Job, Abraham, King David, Solomon, Joseph of Arimathea etc were rich and great too. So being rich or money, by itself, is neither good nor bad. Bible does not say that ‘’money is the root cause of all evil," but Bible says "the love of money is the root of all evil." (I Tim. 6:10)

It is not really whether one is rich or poor that counts, it is the means adopted, the manner in which the wealth is used and hoarded that makes wealth blessing or curse in one’s life.

An All-Powerful Father who Loves to Fail

In Genesis Chap 32 verses 24 to 32, we read ‘’ A man came and fought with Jacob… they kept on wrestling until the man said ‘’ let go off me! … Jacob replied. You can’t go until you bless me’’. The man said, ‘’ …. You have wrestled with God and man and you have won ‘’. Jacob’s win in a duel means the other person failed. In verse 30 Jacob says ‘’ I have seen God face to face’’ So he defeated God! Incredible and inconceivable!

While surfing through the net., found this comment from Mr. George Thomas regarding our Kuwait Mar Thoma Parish.

What we have here in Chicago could be a good example for you to how to deal with the crisis.

When the Ist MT Church of Chicago grow leaps and bounds, they decided to form a new parish retaining the original one in its place. The Mother parish contributed a sizeable amount of money to find a new property and helped to build a new church for the new Parish. While the new church building was under construction, the newly formed parish held its service in the afternoon at the old church itself.

Once construction of new church completed the new parish started functioning there with members volutarily joined the new parish on their own will.

Your problem could be solved by retaining the original Parish and giving option to members to join the new parishes . The assets, and other valuables owned by the current church need to be devided accordingly or the original parish help others to build their own churches.
